Thanksgiving 2009

There are so many things to be thankful for, the most obvious is for the blessing of little Sprout! This year we are lucky enough to have a house full of company for our Thanksgiving Meal: Grandma Lisa, Grandpa Frank, Auntie Elizabeth, Uncle Rick were all over along with Rick’s family, Grandma Susan, Grandpa Bill, Aunt Betsy and Cousin Aly. Grandma Lisa and I were up at 6:00 am to start the turkey, although a lot of our dishes were prepared the day before.

Here was our menu for the feast:
  • Turkey (professionally cooked by Grandma Lisa)
  • Stuffing
  • Gravy
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Cranberry Sauce (my Grandma Josie’s recipe with a cream fresh topping! Mmmmm)
  • Green Bean Casserole (courtesy of Grandma Susan)
  • Yams (made by Auntie Elizabeth...it's her favorite!)
  • Broccoli Cheese Casserole
  • Dinner Roles
  • Spinach Dip (brought by Aunt Betsy)
  • Pumpkin, Cherry and Chocolate Mousse Pie (handmade by Grandma Susan)
  • Endless Supply of Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider (courtesy of Uncle Rick and Auntie Elizabeth)
I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU to Grandma Lisa and Grandpa Frank for buying all of the groceries that gave us the wonderful meal!  Thank you Grandma Susan and Bill for the pies and green bean casserole, Aunt Betsy for the spinach dip, and a big hug to Daddy Michael….you picked out the best turkey ever!  Can't forget a big thanks to Auntie Elizabeth and Uncle Rick for the bubbly supply of cider.  Yummy!

Yes, even Jonnie and Jacob had to join us for the Thanksgiving photo.  Jacob is on Mike's lap, and Jonnie is the dark black blob sitting on my lap and next to Uncle Rick.

How the Puppies Get Ready for Thanksgiving

For those of you who haven't met our first two kids, their names are Jonnie and Jacob. Jacob is lively 3 year old "Maltese" and abnormally sized at 15 lbs. Did I mention when we picked him out he was only supposed to be 5lbs? Jacob is the white dog below that was convinced the way to help clean the house, cook and get ready for company on Thanksgiving day was to go burry toys and bones in the backyard. I swear, it's only a face a mother, father, and grandmother could love. Everyone else....well, they're just out of luck! Jacob is the emotionally attentive puppy that knows I'm preggers and has to sleep cuddled up to my tummy at night or lay on my lap when we're watching TV. Oh yeah, and TV is his absolutely favorite activity! If you don’t believe me, check out the second pic!

Jonnie is our second child and he’s the lover of the family. He is a wimpy 8 lbs, 2 ½ years old and a special breed we like to call “LATSA SHITTY POM POO.” On the complete opposite scale of Jacob’s emotional attentiveness, Jonnie is the stereotypical dog that just wants to be petted and rubbed. He has his own special ways of convincing you to scratch his tummy whether it’s falling backwards on your lap with all four paws up in the air, staring at you with his big brown teary goggle eyes or a soft lick on your hand when you’re in the middle of a conversation and start petting him without noticing. Don’t let this soft black and white marshmallow fool you, he knows how to get his lovin! This Thanksgiving Jonnie was particular “happy” after playing with Jacob and here are some shots of him smiling.
